Nowadays, many RPGs, including Metaphor: ReFantazio, offer players expected quality-of-life features, such as fast travel, map markers, autosave, and other modern conveniences that make the journey smoother.
While these features produce a more practical experience, the sense of discovery and adventure might be somewhat dwindled.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Looks Like The High-Action Persona I Secretly Wished For
Suffice it to say, I’m pretty excited for Metaphor: ReFantazio.
That’s why these same RPGs often include elusive collectibles—many times very missable—that can only be found by the most sharp-eyed explorers. In the case of Metaphor: ReFantazio, these collectibles are the Gold Beetles.
Unfortunately, these shimmering insects are practically missable due to the game’s time-restrained calendar. If you forget one in a dungeon, you’ll need to return and potentially lose an entire day.
Fortunately, we’ve found 49 of them and have listed the locations of all Gold Beetles in Metaphor: ReFantazio, so you can score some mighty and useful gear.
What Are Gold Beetles For?
Before you start your hunt, you might be wondering what these Gold Beetles are for in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
These elusive collectibles are a currency you can exchange for gear when you talk to the Elderly Entomophile in Brilehaven, specifically in the Arenafront Wharf area.
He will reward you with gear depending on how many Gold Beetles you give him. The final item is obtained after delivering 46 Gold Beetles.
After that, each additional beetle will reward you with an Arcane Dragonblood, arguably the best consumable item in the game, as it restores all MP for the entire party.
Rewards for Delivering Gold Beetles

All Gold Beetle Locations Revealed
To be completely honest, we don’t know the exact number of Gold Beetles available in Metaphor: ReFantazio, as some of them are missable. You can hear a chittering sound when one is nearby.
To get the last reward from the Elderly Entomophile, you’ll need to find at least 46 Gold Beetles. We’ve delivered a bit more, totaling 49 in all, and we’ll list all of their locations here.
Most dungeons contain at least one Gold Beetle, and collecting them during your first visit is recommended to avoid wasting a day. Cities also hide these shining insects, but some can’t be collected on your first visit.
Gold Beetles don’t carry over in New Game+. So, to collect all the rewards, including a gold trophy, you should aim to get at least 46 in one playthrough.
