If players are having a hard time gathering regular Polymer in ARK: Survival Evolved, they should consider trying to obtain some Organic Polymer as well. Organic Polymer can be used for almost everything that regular Polymer is used for, though, with a few small exceptions.

Due to the resource-heavy nature of ARK: Survival Evolved gameplay, it’s unsurprising for Organic Polymer to be introduced specifically as a naturally-sourced substitute for Polymer. Its main usage is for Crafting, where it can be used as a material for all craftables that use Polymer.
Due to its organic nature, Organic Polymer is easy to acquire should players know the correct creatures and the types of Tools they can use to extract the substance. They can also trade acquired Hexagons in the Hexagon Exchange for Organic Polymer, where 500 Hexagons can trade them 5 Organic Polymer pieces.
Acquiring Organic Polymer
Different Natural Sources For Easy Collection
Being a naturally-occurring substance, Organic Polymer can be collected in a number of ways using a variety of Tools and methodologies. Depending on the player’s convenience, they may be able to acquire Organic Polymer using the following methods:
Gathering
Players can start gathering Organic Polymer by using specific Tools on different creatures:
-
Chainsaw (Scorched Earth)
- Dire Bear: Located close to the central part of the map, the Dire Bear is strong but not a threat unless players get up close and personal.
- Pelagornis: Being a docile creature, the Pelagornis will fly away when attacked.
- Sabertooth: Located generally on the northern part of the Island, they are extremely fast creatures that can be difficult to outrun. When fighting them, players should go to higher ground.
-
Sword
- Thylacoleo: They are relatively aggressive when encountered near redwood trees, and are almost always ready to attack players who are still trying to Tame them.
-
Wooden Club
- Direwolf: When found in the game’s snowy regions, Direwolves are often encountered in packs. They are best dealt with from afar.
- Theriznosaur: While mainly a herbivore, the Theriznosaur is one of the most dangerous creatures on the Island – with strength relative to the Spino and Rex. They are easily provoked when approached, and can damage both players and their mounts in a single attack
- Mantis: They’re deadly when fought in groups, and their Organic Polymer yield isn’t as high when Gathered as opposed to Harvested after death.
Harvesting
Since the AI of many creatures can allow them to wander, forage, hunt, and gather resources on their own, players can let their non-human allies help in obtaining more of this resource. Just be sure to check their inventories once in a while to gather the goods from them. Here are the creatures that can harvest Organic Polymer:
- Kairuku: This is a docile bird-like creature resembling a penguin. In The Island, they’re generally found on the north-west side of the map, along the arctic shoreline.
- Karkinos: This spider crab-like creature is a large abomination that is a threat even to groups of skilled survivors. Avoid being in its line of sight as its grab can immobilize players and pulvverize them to the ground. Due to this attack, fighting the Karkinos near bodies of water can cause it to inadvertedly drown players.

Best Survival Games on Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass has a lot to offer subscribers who are fans of the survival game genre.
- Hesperornis: Resembling a hybrid of a duck or goose, they are generally present in most maps of the game. Rivers are bodies of water are their home, and are relatively easy to kill.
- Mantis: Resembling the traditional Mantis, they can be found generally in Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles, and Lost Island. They are deadly in packs, which makes their pounce attack dangerous when engaging in melee.
Looting from the Deathworm
Players can also Loot Organic Polymer after defeating the Deathworm, a deadly creature present in Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, and Lost Island. They are difficult to spot, and their sizable nature encourages players to team up to take turns distracting and attacking it. The Deathworm’s speed can make fighting it on foot extremely dangerous, and as such as fast-moving mount is advisable to use against it.
Destroy Polymer-Based Items
All items made with regular Polymer can be broken down into Organic Polymer if they are thrown into an Industrial Grinder, and, as such, players should toss old items that are no longer needed into the grinder to recycle them.
Best Organic Polymer Farming Tips
While the previously mentioned means of acquiring Organic Polymer are the easiest most widely used, these next ones can potentially yield far more of the needed resource, albeit in more dangerous situations.
Harvest The White Plants In The Aberration & Valguero
The large white plants with big orbs for flowers will yield a decent amount of Organic Polymer each time that they are harvested. Since they are just a regular plant, players won’t need any tools to harvest them; just walk up to one and grab it. They will be easy to spot in the dark and dank Aberration, so it is recommended to search for them there, however, these white plants also grow in Valguero.
Harvest The Structures In Bee Caves
Arguably much riskier (but more rewarding), players can perform a similar farming feat in a Bee Cave. Players can gather Organic Polymer from the many structures amidst waves of honey within a Bee Cave, however, one will need a tool to do so. Like when harvesting Organic Polymer from corpses, players will need a Chainsaw, Sword, or Wooden Bat to gather the goods. However, it should also be mentioned that tamed creatures like Magmasaur or Doedicurus can also be excellent at harvesting the structures within a Bee Cave for hundreds of Organic Polymer every minute.
Crafting Dynamics
A Decent Polymer Substitute
As mentioned earlier, Organic Polymer can make for a decent Polymer substitute, especially if players are starting to have a hard time creating Polymer for their Crafting needs. However, players do need to take note of a few item interactions before proceeding to collect Organic Polymer for their Crafting essentials:
- Expiration Date: When Organic Polymer is acquired – whether in the form of loot or Harvested from a creature – it spoils in 30 minutes. If left inside the Achatina, its spoil time is increased to 1 hour 30 minutes. This means players need to use the Organic Polymer in their Crafting quickly so their efforts won’t go to waste.
- Crafting Consumption: When using the Fabricator and the Tek Replicator, Polymer is still consumed first before Organic Polymer. It’s advised players don’t carry Polymer at all if they want only Organic Polymer to be exclusively consumed.
Relevant Crafts
Organic Polymer can be used to create all things that require Polymer to create, which is around 155 item pieces across the entire game. Notable among these craftable gear are the following:
- C4 Charge, Remote Detonator: Among the staple explosives in the game, they can deal massive damage when set up correctly.
- Cloning Chamber: This endgame tool can be used to clone creatures of various types and levels using Shards,.
- Cryopod: This is used to freeze and store Tamed Creatures when not used.
- GPS: This is an advanced navigational item that calculates the player’s precise location on the island.
- Hazard Suit Armor: Exclusive to the Aberration map, this endgame armor is designed to protect players from radiation.
- Riot Armor: This late-game armor set can provide as much as 575 Armor for a full set, making it a provider of heavy-duty protection at the expense of more heat.

- Vault: This is a must-have storage solution for players as it can hold as much as 350 stacks worth of items.
Exclusive Crafts
Aside from being an effective substitute for ordinary Polymer, Organic Polymer is also the exclusive Crafting material used for these items:
Ghillie Armor
The Ghillie Armor is based n the real-life ghillie suit, which is a camouflage clothing that is designed to help users “blend in” to their natural environment. This is done by covering the armor in twine, cloth, and burlap that is made to resemble twigs and leaves. In ARK: Survival Revolved, the full suit provides moderate protection at 160 Armor and can reduce the visibility range of enemies by 50%, provide 155 Heat Protection, and 24 Cold Protection. A full set requires the following:
- 26 Organic Polymer (Feathers in Primitive Plus)
- 18 Fiber
- 40 Hide
Frog Feet (Mobile)
In ARK: Survival Evolved gameplay, players of the mobile iteration of the game can create Frog Feet from Frog Legs. Similar to the Scuba Flippers, the Frog Feet will boost a player’s swimming speed and their overall jump height. The mobile game requires the following to create Frog Feet:
- 30 Organic Polymer
- 4 Frog Legs
- 45 Hide
- 30 Fiber
Not For Consumption
The Suicide Pill
Despite its organic nature, Organic Polymer should never be consumed by a player in their ARK: Survival Evolved gameplay. Eating Organic Polymer will deal 500 Damage, which is enough damage to insta-kill most players.
It’s for this reason that Organic Polymer is often carried by players as a “Suicide Pill.” Under no circumstances should players consume even a single Organic Polymer for this reason, as this forces them to restart their progress due to ARK: Survival Evolved’s permadeath feature. Trolls often joke for players to try eating Organic Polymer for a “special status” that it provides, with newer gamers not immediately knowing that the consumption can insta-kill their character and stop their current progress.
