Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) responsible for executing the Metro Rail Project in Chennai. CMRL is seeking applications from qualified and experienced individuals for the following position, available on a contractual basis.

Qualification and experience

  • Applicants must have a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from a government recognized college or university accredited by AICTE/UGC.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience for the position of Junior General Manager (JGM) or 13 years for the position of Deputy General Manager (DGM), with significant experience in architectural design for large infrastructure projects .
  • At least 8 years of this experience must be in Metro Rail or Railway projects.
  • Familiarity with design aspects related to life safety and fire safety, as well as knowledge of NBC, NFPA 130, and NFPA 101, is essential.
  • Experience is required in the design and construction of various architectural finishes for room layout and station signage.
  • Proficiency in design software such as CADD and Revit is mandatory, while skills in Photoshop, 3D Max and other equivalent software are preferred.

age limit

  • Maximum Age in Years JGM (Architect) – 43 years, DGM (Architect) – 40 years.
  • The age, qualification and experience stipulated for the above post must be as on 07-08-2024. The age will be relaxed for deserving and experienced candidates.
  • Higher compensation/higher position will be considered based on past experience, interview performance, highest qualifications, exceptional credentials and experience in relevant field. Salary is negotiable for deserving candidates.
  • In addition to the consolidated payment, benefits such as medical and personal accident insurance, life insurance, reimbursement of mobile phone and SIM card for official use and other applicable eligible allowances will be paid as per the prevailing norms of the CMRL HR policy.

Selection process

The selection process consists of two stages: an interview followed by a medical examination. Candidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge, skills, understanding, attitude, aptitude and physical condition.

Medical Examination:

  • CMRL will cover the cost of the initial medical examination. However, if a candidate requests an extension to join, she must cover the cost of any subsequent medical examination.
  • Candidates are also responsible for their travel expenses to and from the medical exam.
  • Failure to pass the prescribed medical examination will result in disqualification from employment, and the CMRL’s decision on this matter will be final.

Application fee

  • Unreserved and other category candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300/-, while SC/ST candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 50/- (for processing charges). Payments must be made online by electronic transfer to the account provided and the NEFT/UPI payment receipt or acknowledgment must be uploaded with the online application form.
  • Disabled persons are exempt from the application fee, but must upload their disability certificate online with their application.
  • Please note that the application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. Candidates must ensure their eligibility and meet the application deadline before making payment.

Procedure to apply online

Step 2: A registration link will be sent to your registered email. Click the verification button to authenticate your email. After verification, you will be redirected to the CMRL career page to log in and apply.

Step 3: Please complete all sections of the application form and upload the required documents as specified in the notification to verify the details provided.
