The groves are arranged in a pattern that radiates outwards from a central point, with a Victorian gazebo serving as the central hub.

During seasonal flowering periods, visitors are invited to explore the fields and relax in the shade of the gazebo where the soothing scent of lavender fills the air. Dr. Henry Cabrera: From Anesthesiologist to Agricultural Pioneer

The story of Lavender Waves Farm is as compelling as the farm itself. Doctor Henry CabreraA successful anesthesiologist, he had always dreamed of starting a small agricultural business. As a doctor working in a large hospital, for years he thought this dream would never come true. Until one day he discovers a perfect opportunity.

“I did my research on lavender and found a perfect farm near my main job. It felt like the stars were aligning,” he said.

Dr. Cabrera purchased the farm in 2016. However, despite his luck in finding such a beautiful and conveniently located piece of land, building Lavender Waves Farm was no easy feat.

“When I moved to the farm, it was just a hayfield,” Dr. Cabrera recalls. Transforming that field into the thriving farm it is today required countless hours of work. Dr. Cabrera spent years cultivating the land, renovating the property and meticulously planning the layout of the lavender fields.

Planting rows of lavender is not a monumental task. But Dr. Cabrera wanted his farm to be much more than that. Lavender Waves Farm was built to be a hub where nature, community and education intersect. Dr. Cabrera made it a priority for the farm to operate in harmony with the environment and the local community.

Sustainable practices, such as organic fertilization, water conservation and crop rotation, have been implemented throughout the farm to protect and enhance the natural ecosystem. Dr. Cabrera works closely with the Kingston Hill Garden Club in South Kingstown (where the farm is located), to ensure that these practices are carefully followed today.

Lavender Waves continues to improve its agricultural operations to maintain the highest standards of sustainable agriculture.

Under Dr. Cabrera’s leadership, Lavender Waves Farm has flourished, becoming both a successful business and a valuable community resource. Its dedication to sustainable farming practices, animal welfare, and creating a space where people can connect with nature has made Lavender Waves Farm a model of modern ecotourism.
