Silent Hill 2 Remake Review
The Silent Hill 2 remake is an incredible horror game experience that successfully expands on the beloved original.
This puzzle was completed on normal difficulty. The solutions will vary between easy and difficult.
Where to find the watch
Shortly after arriving at Bluecreek Apartments, you will find a large clock in Apartment 212. There is also a save point in this room, so be sure to use it before continuing. To the right of the save point is a table with a note that says:
Henry fears Scott, he will run from him and hide.
He has fled to the west, to the other side.
But here comes Mildred, with unknown intentions,
Scott lies face down, blind to his descent.
Currently, the watch does not have an hour or minute hand. To fully solve this puzzle you will need to find both. Your first priority will be to find the hour hand, since you can’t progress without it.
Where to find the hour hand
Head to the third floor and enter Apartment 307, where you will see a radio caged and suspended in the air by three large chains. At the end of each chain is machinery controlled by a rusty red valve. The first place is in the same room as the radio, but it does not have a valve. Ignore this for now and head to Apartment 305 where you will find a valve.
Turn this valve and then kill the enemies that appear. Before leaving Apartment 305, look for a table where you will find the key to Apartment 306. Use the key to unlock Apartment 306 and continue until you reach Apartment 304, where the next valve is. Once you turn this valve, it detaches from the machine, allowing you to grab it.
Return to Apartment 307 and connect the valve to the last machine. Turn it and return to the radio. Once you interact with the radio, you will get the hour hand.
Where to find the minute hand
While you don’t have the minute hand yet, you can use the hour hand to unlock another room. Return to the clock and place the hour hand on the clock. Turn the hand until it is at nine o’clock. This unlocks Apartment 210. The door to this room has a large “H” carved into it.
There are several points of interest in Apartment 210. The first is the seesaw, which is missing two insertable bird shapes. The second is the cracked wall in the kitchen that can be broken with a couple of melee attacks. Focus first on the kitchen wall to enter the bathroom.
Approach the bathroom and interact with it to find it. Continue pressing the search button whenever prompted and you will get the minute hand. Open the bathroom door and go out into the hallway. Take out the approaching lying figure and then pick up the dove figure from the nearby shelf.
Once you get the Timer, the door you used to enter Apartment 210 will lock itself. Fortunately, you can find another way out by solving the seesaw.
From there, head to Apartment 209 to get a Malformed Figurine Piece. Then, go to Apartment 211 to get a wooden swan head. Both the malformed figure piece and the wooden swan head can be combined. Return to the seesaw and insert both figures.
Then you will have to adjust the position of the figures so that the seesaw is perfectly balanced. To do this, move the swan to the two holes on the left and you will get the Winged Key. This key can be used to unlock the door next to the rocker.
How to get back to the clock
In the next room you will see a large hole in the floor. Jump to reach the first floor of Bluecreek Apartments. Go through the hole in the wall to exit Apartment 110. Head towards Apartment 109 and enter one of the rooms inside to trigger a cutscene.
Pick up the knife and key on the table and then head to the other end of the hallway past Apartment 111. Use the key to open the door and go through the hallway on the other side. Take note of the door that has an “S” carved into it. Continue through Apartment 101 and you will eventually find a staircase. Go up the stairs and you will have successfully returned to the second floor.
Enter the room with the clock and then place the minute hand. Move the minute hand to two to unlock Apartment 202.
Apartment 202
On the wall is a plaque with three dead moths and around the room are displays with more dead moths. There is a combination lock with equations to determine the code. The trick to this puzzle is to pay attention to the number of symbols on each moth. There are also dead moths on the wall of Apartment 201, which can be accessed by breaking the wall next to the dead moth display in Apartment 202.
In total, there are two skull symbols, five circle symbols and eight crescent symbols. The lock digits can be calculated with the following equations.
-
Half Moon – Circle: 3
-
Skull + Circle: 7
-
Circle – Skull: 3
By entering this code, the door will open and you can progress. Beyond this door is a small room with a suspicious hole in the wall. Interact with it and search for it whenever prompted. After the third message, you will get the second hand. Return to the watch once again and set the second hand. Move the second hand to three and you will have successfully completed this long puzzle in its entirety. The next step will be to return to the first floor where you saw that door with an “S” carved into it.
