Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum second class master’s degree in one of the following disciplines from a recognized university:
  • Forensic Sciences
  • Digital forensics and cybersecurity
  • Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with specialization in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology (IT) or Electronic Communications Engineering.
  • Post-qualification of seven years of analytical experience in the field of digital evidence from any recognized laboratory or institute. Research work done for a Ph.D. The degree will be considered part of the total experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • PhD. Graduate with experience working with digital evidence.
  • Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment under the specific conditions prevailing in Pradesh.
  • 2nd Class Master’s Degree specifically in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity.

age limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years of age as of 01-01-2024.

Relaxation of upper age limit:

5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and children/grandchildren of freedom fighters of Himachal Pradesh, according to government statements. Age relaxation applies only if there are posts reserved for these categories.

  • Registration certificate to prove age.
  • Degree certificates and mark sheets showing all years or consolidated mark sheet for educational qualifications.
  • Certificate(s) of experience where applicable.
  • Valid category certificate(s) like SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen, along with discharge book, Ward of Ex-Servicemen, WFF and PWDs. The certificates must be in HP’s Government prescribed Proforma.
  • Bonafide Himachali Certificate for Reserved Category Candidates.
  • Valid EWS/BPL Certificate (Candidates in EWS category are required to submit income and assets certificate or valid BPL certificate countersigned by BDO along with non-SC/ST/OBC certificate).
  • Ex. Military Discharge Certificate/Service Book including complete details of PPO Number, Rank and NOC with retirement date to claim reservation benefits under ex-servicemen category in Himachal Pradesh.

Test 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) or Offline Screening Test

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Total points: 100
  • Type: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Negative grading: Yes, for wrong/incorrect answers
  • General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh: 30 Marks
  • General knowledge of national and international affairs: 30 points.
  • Knowledge of Hindi language: 20 points.
  • Knowledge of the English language: 20 points.

Paper II: Subject Aptitude Test (SAT)

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Total points: 120
  • Type: Descriptive questions
  • Study programme: The Commission will decide periodically
  • Conduct:
  • The test will be carried out in a single space with the same questionnaire.
  • In different spaces, different sets of questionnaires can be provided depending on the number of candidates and computer terminals available.
  • Both Paper 1 and Paper II will be held on the same day, in morning and afternoon sessions, at various locations in Himachal Pradesh, as determined by the Commission.

  • Visit the official website and click “Apply Online” on the home page.
  • Click on “One Time Registration (OTR) for Exams” and register or log in to create your profile by clicking on “New Registration” if you are not already registered.
  • After logging in, candidates will see a list of live ads on their dashboard.
  • Apply for the post of Deputy Director (Digital Forensics) through the portal. Please ensure all required documents are uploaded as per advertisement.
  • Before submitting the application, please provide an undertaking/declaration that all uploaded documents are legible, legible and true. Agree not to object to the rejection of a nomination based on the quality of the document.
  • No further opportunity will be given for submission of documents after submitting the online application.
  • The application will be considered successfully submitted only after payment of the fee is acknowledged and credited to the Commission’s account.
  • Once submitted, no changes can be made in the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) except change of category as per the procedure of Rule 5 (iv) of the HPPSC (Business Procedure and Transaction) Rules, 2023.
