Larry Kudlow: RFK Jr.’s logic was ‘strong’

RFK, Jr.’s endorsement of Donald Trump buried Kamala Harris’ speech last night at the DNC and that’s what the riff is about. Kamala Harris gave a reasonably well presented speech last night at DNCbut of course it was full of clichés and countless lies about Donald Trump’s past. She has worked overtime to hide her ultraliberal progressivism and big government socialism, but unfortunately for her, the big news today comes from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. who just endorsed Donald Trump.

In a sense, Mr. Kennedy simply erased Kamala’s DNC speech from the news cycle, and Kennedy’s logic was strong and well-constructed. First, he said he is giving his support to President Trump because “the causes were free speech, the war in Ukraine and the war on our children” and then he criticized the Democratic Party for its legal war against the President Trump and himself.

Listen: “The DNC has waged an ongoing legal war against both President Trump and me. Every time our volunteers turned in those massive boxes of signatures needed to get on the ballot, the DNC would drag us into court, state after state, attempting to erase their work and subvert the will of the voters who signed those petitions. He employed DNC-aligned judges to exclude me and other candidates from the ballot and throw President Trump in prison.”

LARRY KUDLOW: TRUMP IS DEDICATED TO ENDING THE BIDEN-HARRIS CONVENIENCE CRISIS

Then he mocked all the Democratic celebrities attending their convention by noting that they mentioned Donald Trump 47 times on the first day alone: ”Oh, who needs politics when you’ve got Trump to hate?” He goes on to say, “President Biden has only been mentioned twice in four days,” but there is more to it than just Kennedy’s frustration with the undemocratic Democratic Party.

Here’s Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on foreign policy: “We have pushed Russia into a disastrous alliance with China and Iran. We are closer to the brink of nuclear exchange than we have been since 1962 and the neoconservatives in the White House do not He doesn’t seem to care at all.”

He also put in a word for King Dollar. Listen: “Our moral authority and our economy are in chaos, and the war gave rise to the emergence of the BRICs, which now threaten to replace the dollar as the global reserve currency. This is a first-class calamity for our village. ”

It turns out that Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Trump have had several meetings in recent weeks, and Kennedy outlined a number of issues on which he made common cause with President Trump.

Listen: “We are aligned with ending the childhood disease epidemic, with securing the borders, with protecting free speech, with exposing the corporate capture of our regulatory agencies, with the exclusion of U.S. intelligence from propaganda, censorship, and surveillance of Americans and interfere with our elections.”

As news about RFK, Jr. filtered in, pay-to-play betting markets saw a 51% to 48% advantage for Trump over Harris. Not only did the Kennedy news trample and almost bury all the news about Kamala’s speech last night, but he basically didn’t get much in the way of serious politics from that speech, even though it was well delivered. He now he lied about Trump cutting Medicare and Social Security. He’s said a million times that he won’t do it.

He lied about Trump supporting the Project 2025 agenda because he has also said a million times that he knows nothing about it and doesn’t support it. He lied about Trump wanting a national abortion ban, because he’s said a million times that he doesn’t support it and would instead prefer to turn the issue over to the states under the Supreme Court – and meanwhile he supports “Reaganesque” rape exclusions , incest and maternal health.

Indeed, it is Ms. Harris who wants a nationwide right to abortion that comes through the horrific late-term abortion. On the economy, it was a bit like Kamala was saying, “I’m not Joe Biden and I haven’t been in the White House for the last four years.” Wait a minute! You’ve been in the White House as a key player, and you have supported the Bidenomics agenda on taxes, regulation and spending, the war on fossil fuels, and the affordability crisis where prices have risen faster than wages due to your overspending.

He cannot hide it and Mr. Trump will attribute it to him during the debates as he has already attributed it to him in his numerous recent speeches and press conferences and, among other things, he has a fiscal agenda identical to that of Joe Biden, told by no less than a recent key story from the New York Times.

It will kill wages and business competitiveness by raising corporate tax, raising the top income tax for small businesses, raising the capital gains tax from 24% to 44% and imposing the first wealth tax on unrealized capital gains . This all reminds me of the late great Jack Kemp who often said that you can’t achieve prosperity with taxes, and often added that you can’t have capitalism without capital, but Ms. Harris is not a fan of capitalism, as we know that.

She aligns herself with big government socialism, even if she didn’t come close to it in her speech. She is also a cultural radical, pushing DEI affirmative action wherever possible and burying historic American values of merit. You promised a strong military, but the Biden-Harris budgets cut defense spending in real terms after inflation.

He said he would keep America strong, but he never mentioned the catastrophe of fleeing Afghanistan and delivering $85 billion in weapons to radical Taliban terrorists.

Of course, he never mentioned Iranian appeasement and the lifting of Trump’s harsh oil sanctions that had been used to finance the war against Israel and the United States.

I am in awe of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., whose political reasons for supporting Donald Trump are much closer to what Americans actually think. I don’t agree with everything Mr. Kennedy said, but we agree on some issues and on Mr. Kennedy’s direct and specific reasons for supporting Trump and attacking Trump’s undemocratic Democrats. That’s why he’s winning the news cycle. That’s why today he gave Trump a big lead to win the election. This is the riff.
