When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios is looking to make it big in theaters next year. Unfortunately, however, despite having three movies scheduled for release next year, a Marvel movie seems to be more of an afterthought as far as fans are concerned. Good heavens*Marvel Studios’ ragtag team of heroes just released their first trailer, and while it sparked conversation among fans online, the film’s reception still seemed pretty lackluster.
The film, like many other Marvel Studios adaptations, does not feature the same roster as the comics. This is something that fans have shown frustration about in the past. Instead, the studio has tried to make its own version of the team with some formerly villainous characters who deserve a lot more screen time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Good heavens* Now that its release is less than a year away, Marvel Studios needs to provide more trailers for the film because it deserves more attention than it currently receives.
Why Thunderbolts* deserve more fan hype
For years, rumors suggested that Marvel Studios was looking to develop a Good heavens movie. When confirmation finally came in June 2022, Marvel surprised fans by already having a director hired for the project. Jake Schreier, best known for directing the television series. Beef for Netflix, he directed the project from a script by Joanna Calo, Lee Sung Jin and Eric Pearson. The film, led by Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, features a number of former villains who haven’t really been used within the Marvel Cinematic Universe since their original appearances. This includes Antonia Dreykov aka Taskmaster, Ava Starr aka Ghost, Alexei Shostakov aka Red Guardian, and John Walker aka US Agent. It also features the debut of Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, who will be played by Lewis Pullman. In the film, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Valentina Allegra de Fontaine assembles the team to carry out missions for the government. However, as the film’s first trailer demonstrates, there’s a lot of chaos in putting together a team like this.
Although the film will introduce Sentry, one of Marvel Comics’ most exciting characters, the reaction among fans has been rather lackluster. This, of course, could simply be because the studio hasn’t done a great job marketing the film. While the studio previewed the film at both Cinema Con and San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios opted not to release anything to the public until very recently. Instead, Marvel Studios has understandably focused on Captain America: Brave New Worldwhich will hit theaters in February. Unfortunately, however, the decision to release Good heavens* between A happy world and The fantastic four: first stepshas resulted in Good heavens* being unfairly ignored. However, the movie looks like a much-needed departure from Marvel Studios and fans should be excited about it. With a standout cast, an exciting trailer that promises something different, and a story focused on characters typically underused by Marvel Studios, Good heavens* It’s a promising feature that should draw more attention from fans.
Will Thunderbolts* be able to deliver when they launch?
Captain America: Brave New World seems to have been inspired by Captain America: The Winter Soldiera film that has an air of political suspense, along with some of the best action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. However, Good heavens* It looks like it could top some of those action scenes. The trailer, which began with Pugh’s Yelena going to see Alexei, eventually finds the villain team in a locked room, with no explanation as to why they were called to the location. The fight scene that follows is some impressive action featuring US Agent, Yelena, Taskmaster, and Ghost, and while it’s brief, it suggests that the film won’t have any trouble when it comes to action. What is the most exciting thing about Good heavens* is that it will really give these characters a proper story within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s no secret that Marvel Studios is known to underutilize its villains or kill them off too quickly. In the case of Good heavens*most of the characters, except Bucky and even Yelena, have been critically underused on screen. Most importantly, however, their films left their future up in the air with no indication of if or when they would ever return. Knowing that they have the potential to have bigger roles within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and perhaps receive a decent story is something to celebrate in itself.
Willpower Good heavens* Will it fulfill what its trailer promises when it is released in May? It certainly seems like the film has been underrated by critics thus far. The secrecy surrounding the film could have alienated fans, or even made them not really care about the project, but that seems like a big mistake. Good heavens* It’s clearly a special project for the studio, and feels like a continuation of black widowanother movie that didn’t receive enough enthusiasm among fans. While it remains to be seen how well it will do at the box office, with no big-name characters to headline the project, but Good heavens* It definitely deserves more hype from fans because it looks like it will surprise in the best way possible.
Good heavens* will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
