The developers planned to release it on August 16, but in a sad way. Twitter announcement On August 15, they explained that they now had to close their operations. To make matters worse, in recent days, this mod has once again gained fan appeal towards Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered on Steam.
It seems Activision doesn’t like community mods like H2M that distract fans from their new releases.
If you see a version of the H2M mod online for download, avoid it and do not trust it as it has become a way to spread malware.

A good story sets the tone, and the tone of Call of Duty is bombastic!
The H2M Mod was planned to be a good reboot for COD fans. The fan update would have revamped Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode with a nice new coat of paint and reset everyone’s achievements and progression to ground zero.
So players would have gotten a classic Call of Duty experience without the option to unlock everything automatically. keeping fans coming back for more of the same original work they fell in love with in 2009..
Not only are fans outraged by the sudden cancellation, but this news came on the heels of a massive 50% off sale on Modern Warfare Remastered on Steam, leading many players who bought the game only for the H2M mod during the sale to issue a refund and beg others to do the same.
Was this a pre-planned business decision?
It is highly unlikely that Activision did not have the idea to notice this upcoming mod and the advantageous Steam offer. These two factors even caused Modern Warfare Remastered to appear on Steam’s best-seller list.
So, Activision apparently decided not to issue a cease and desist until the sale is complete. Which, if true, is a real kick in the face for his own fans. A company profiting from the potential release of a mod that burns to the ground moments later is not a good idea. But again, Activision is no stranger to bad press.
Yeah, players would have needed a legal copy of Modern Warfare 1 Remastered via Steam to play this mod, so its potential success would have meant more traction for a game that Activision benefits from.
Many community theories have emerged to explain why Activision made such an assertive decision. Unlike the actions of other game developers such as Bethesda’s Fallout: Next Gen Update, which damaged the Fallout: London mod, Activision’s decision was deliberate and directed at H2M.

Some are noticing the next beta for Black Ops 6 on August 30. With H2M launching two weeks early, Activision stock could ensure that all Call of Duty fans had their eyes squarely on their next game.
Activision has the legal right to protect and limit public access to its intellectual property, however, the abrupt cancellation stinks and angry fans have already gone to review the bombshell. Modern Warfare Remastered in steam.
The sad fate of H2M
The only clear reason a cancellation like this would be necessary is if Activision has a Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster planned or in development. Although they remastered the campaign in 2020, There hasn’t been any update on a multiplayer component since.
Although not much can be done now, since the project is publicly discarded foreverWe hope that a game company that does something so quickly with its community like this never happens again.
Despite the legality of the action, many of us find it far from moral, especially with fan speculation that Activision likely had time to cancel this project before launch..
All we can do now is lament this once-promising community-led project that was only meant to help fans enjoy the game again. Obligations Game that many of us miss.
