One Piece crews that only name the captain

Key takeaways

  • There are many crews in the pirate adventure world of One Piece, some with many and others with only a few prominent figures.

  • Some crews in particular have a very prominent main figure as a captain, but lack exploration beyond that.

  • The Drake Pirates are a good example of a crew that could be developed further in the future.

The pirate crews in one piece They are, due to the nature of the series, among the most prominent groups within it. Even if an entire crew is not thoroughly explored, there are usually at least some identified members outside of the captain, to give a better view of the crew.

However, this is not always the case. There are a handful of teams in the series that name only one team member and otherwise tend to focus on individual members of each team. This list will look at some crews that are largely unknown and unnamed, with your captain being the only exception in this regard. Often, if a crew is unidentified, it is largely due to the already limited nature of the captain’s importance.

Pirates of the air

Captain: Scratchmen Apoo

  • Debut: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
  • main ship: Stay tuned

This crew was one of ten whose captain qualified for the Worst Generation, which implied a certain level of prestige as a crew. They appear to originate from the Grand Line and many of them have outfits that resemble those historically worn by the Manchus. Their captain is Scratchmen Apoo, who has the distinction of being the only long arm of the worst generation. Like many of their Worst Generation peers, the Air Pirates eventually found themselves at the mercy of an Emperor, namely Kaido of the Beast Pirates.

As a result, they joined his crew and eventually negotiated a fake alliance with other Worst Generation teams, namely the Kid Pirates and the Hawkins Pirates, with the ultimate goal of adding them to the Beasts Pirates. Apoo himself is shown to have no real loyalty to the Beast Pirates, largely staying with the crew out of fear and having little to no genuine loyalty to them.

Brownbeard Pirates

Captain: Chadros “Gardenbeard” Higelyges

Brownbeard and two crewmates stare at Basil Hawkins, an enemy who would almost be their undoing.

  • Debut: Chapter 581 (Manga), Chapter 490 (Anime)
  • main ship: Carlos Martel

This team was first made known to viewers shortly after the Summit War, where Whitebeard’s death led Brownbeard to claim Foodvalten for himself, a territory previously protected by Whitebeard. However, they were severely defeated by Basil Hawkins, the captain of the Hawkins Pirates and one of the 12 pirates known as the Worst Generation.

After arriving at Punk Hazard, Trafalgar D. Water Law used his powers to save their lives and transform them into centaurs. The crew subsequently served as Caesar Clown’s subordinates, holding him and Law in high regard. However, Brownbeard eventually realized that Caesar was using them. Unfortunately, the crew, except for Brownbeard, were exposed to Shinokuni, a potentially fatal petrifying gas. However, after Caesar Clown’s defeat, Smoker allows Brownbeard to free his crewmates before they die, as long as he accepts arrest.

fallen monk pirates

Captain: Urouge

Urouge and three of his crewmates, all members of the Fallen Monk Pirates.

  • Debut: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
  • main ship:Hanjomaru

This Worst Generation team hails from the Sky Islands, although it is unclear exactly which island they originate from. In keeping with their name, Fallen Monk pirates tend to wear robes reminiscent of those of the religion’s devotees. One unidentified member even has a tonsure, a haircut associated with monks in which the hair on the top of the head is shaved. Their captain is the ‘Mad Monk’ Urouge, a mysterious entity, of whom little else is known about him apart from a currently unnamed Devil Fruit power and an ever-present smile.

Even though the nicknames of Urouge and his team imply a departure from orthodoxy. They seem at least somewhat religiously inclined, as Urouge prayed for Kaido upon witnessing his suicide attempt. They were able to defeat an Emperor’s top brass, as Charlotte Snack of the Big Mom Pirates ended up being demoted from her Sweet Commander rank due to losing to Urouge. However, they were forced to withdraw after losing to Cracker, another Sweet Commander.

Although it is unclear if the crew will be developed beyond their current scope, one could assume that at least Urouge will be developed further within the story, as he is now the only member of the Worst Generation who has not crossed paths with Luffy. .

3

Space Pirates

Captain: Seamars

Six animal-like aliens, all members of the Space Pirates.

  • Debut: Chapter 438 (Manga; Cover Story)
  • main ship: A stranger

The Space Pirates are an alien crew that tend to resemble animals in appearance. His well-known piracy usually involves digging for the moon. They are only shown in the cover story, Enel’s large space operationsserving as their effective antagonists. The Space Pirates previously caused an explosion on the moon, killing a Doctor Tsukimi from shock-induced asphyxiation. Their creations, four automatons, decided to travel to the moon to take revenge, but they were no match for the Space Pirates.

Enel manages to revive one of the four automatons, Spacey, who directs him towards Seamars, the pirate captain who defeated him. Enel despises Seamars for desecrating the moon and easily defeats him, with his Logia Devil Fruit preventing him from being hit by most attacks. Enel eventually attacks the entire crew more definitively, effectively ending their operations on the moon. Enel took over the moon, the Fairy Vearth of her people’s legendary tales, with her newfound automatons acting as minions.

2

Drake Pirates

Captain: X Drake

X Drake and five unidentified crewmates

  • Debut: Chapter 498 (Manga), Episode 392 (Anime)
  • main ship: Liberal rear

The son of a sailor turned pirate, X Drake himself deserted his father’s crew to join the marines. He was mentored by former Fleet Admiral Sengoku and eventually rose to the rank of rear admiral. Despite this fact, he eventually returned to piracy, forming the Drake Pirates, who became one of the crews of the Worst Generation. Their crew has a European aesthetic and tends to resemble fencers in their design.

Drake’s hacking was seen when he attempted to attack one of Kaido’s favorite territories, in a seemingly successful effort to provoke him. Drake has since moved up the Beast Pirates’ chain of command, earning the rank of Tobiroppo, the third-highest rank in the crew. However, after the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance declared war against Kaido, Drake was eventually forced to defect from the Beast Pirates, being accused of disloyalty.

It is revealed that Drake is actually the Captain of SWORD, a covert operations unit for formally resigned Marines to conduct operations in secret, on behalf of the World Government. His choice to side with Luffy was partly out of respect for Koby, who is also a member of SWORD. It’s unclear how to reconcile his ruse as a pirate with the existence of his crew. It is possible that they are also members of SWORD, but since this has not been explicitly stated, it is equally possible that they are unaware of the truth. Drake was recently seen recovering in a marine hospital, further muddying the waters on whether he can continue acting as a pirate.

Most subordinate crews

Captain: Various

(Left to right; top to bottom) Little Oars Jr., AO, Whitey Bay, Peachbeard, Squad, Pururu, Fugar, and Gerotini, all subordinate captains who serve as the only officially named members of his crew for the time being.

  • Debut: Varies depending on the character, conceptually introduced around Chapter 551 (Manga) and Episode 460 (Anime)
  • main ship: Varies depending on character

Subordinate crews are those that serve under the orders of another crew. Emperors often use them to further solidify their power and influence. Members are technically not part of the crew they serve under, maintaining their own chain of command. However, their exact relationship to the crew they serve varies, depending on which crew is in charge.

Subordinate crews were first shown in depth at Marineford, and many of Whitebeard’s crews participated in the Summit War. Here, in addition to Whitebeard’s numerous division commanders and crewmates, several subordinate crews also take to the field. Whitebeard’s subordinate captains include Little Oars Jr., Whitey Bay, AO, and Squard, among others. A handful of subordinate captains are confirmed to have been Whitebeard Pirates before forming their own crews.

The Blackbeard Pirates are the only known subordinate crew of the Blackbeard Pirates. They are shown to be strong enough to defeat the marines stationed in the Kingdom of Lulusia, but are ultimately defeated by four Revolutionary Army officers. It is stated that Blackbeard does not care about his subordinate crews.

The Red Hair Pirates are known for having weak subordinate crews. Examples of them are the Bourgeois Pirates (led by Pururu), the Social Club (led by Fugar) and the Charco Pirates (led by Gerotini). It’s possible that Shanks is trying to use his reputation to protect them, just like Whitebeard did. with their territories. However, at the moment this is pure speculation.

It should be noted that not all subordinate crews fit into this category. The Sun Pirates and Fire Tank Pirates, despite having previously served under Big Mom’s command, have several named members, due to them being more relevant to the story. Additionally, the seven crews of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet have several named members, for exactly the same reason.
