It is only after finding all four of them can one reach the final island, Laugh Tale. So far, only the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and his crew have acquired all four stones and going to the final island. With the Worst Generation taking control of the seas, there are several pirates on the hunt for these stones currently.
Updated on August 31, 2024, by Rei Penber: In the final saga of One Piece, Road Poneglyphs are more important than ever before. These four red stones are what can lead an individual to the One Piece and, without them, it is impossible to find the treasure that was left behind by Joy Boy. Roger was only able to reach the Final Island after gathering all four Road Poneglyphs. Given that Roger ended up starting the Great Pirate Era, which saw an influx of Pirates on the seas, it is no surprise to see that quite a lot of days powerful pirates are on the hunt for Road Poneglyphs. While this list already goes over the vast majority of powerful pirates who have these Poneglyphs in their possession, the Final Saga has turned the tables on quite a lot of them and erased others from the race for the One Piece. Poneglyphs have been lost and found, and rubbings have been stolen and taken. As such, this list has now been updated accordingly.

The Man With The Burn Scar
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 1
- Road Poneglyph: Fishman Island
The Man with the Burn Scar, also known as Hinokizu, is quite an intriguing individual whom Oda introduced for the very first time towards the end of the Wano country arc. Back then, Eustass Kid claimed that the Man With the Burn Scar was going to be the key individual in the battle for the One Piece, given that he is the one who has the last Road Poneglyph that nobody can find.
Later on, Blackbeard and his crew revealed to the fans that he travels in an all-black ship, and that he has the power to create vortexes in water. Any ship that gets close to him gets sunk immediately. Hinokizu is quite a powerful individual and one that will certainly play a very important role in One Piece, later down the line. He has been defending this Poneglyph for quite a while, since Blackbeard could not locate it even a year before. Furthermore, the fact that the Four Emperors have been fighting over him is also another indication that he has held at this Poneglyph for quite a while now.

Big Mom
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 1
- Road Poneglyph: Whole Cake Island
Big Mom captains the Big Mom Pirates and was one of the Four Emperors of the Sea until recently. As one of the most fearsome pirates, Big Mom had acquired one of the Road Poneglyphs. She gained possession of the stone long ago and fans know this because Roger stole it from her before going to Laugh Tale.
Later, Brook also stole her Poneglyph during the Whole Cake Island arc, adding to Luffy’s collection of these stones. Big Mom ended up falling from her throne in the Wano arc and, now, doesn’t hold the same power that she once did. At the moment, her fate remains unknown.
Update: Big Mom Is Out Of The Race For The One Piece
Big Mom had one Poneglyph at her disposal, however, she ended up being defeated by the duo of Kid and Law in Wano. After Big Mom was defeated, she was sent to an underground volcano, which ended up erupting. Fans do not know what became of Big Mom after the eruption of this powerful volcano. It is possible that Big Mom is dead already, and in that case, the Poneglyph that she has would then pass to Katakuri.
However, if Big Mom is certainly alive, then she would still hold it. Either way, Big Mom has been knocked from her throne of Emperor, and that in itself means that she is no longer in the hunt for the One Piece. As such, her having or not having a Poneglyph does not make any difference, because she does not have what it takes to reach the Final Island and all her efforts were in vain.

Kaido
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 1
- Road Poneglyph: Wano
Just like Big Mom, Kaido was also one of the Four Emperors of the Sea until recently. As mentioned by Nekomamushi during the Zou arc, Kaido was in possession of one of these red stones, just like Big Mom.
Despite having been a pirate for many decades, Kaido did not have access to any other of these red stones. In the war of Wano, he ended up losing to Luffy in a one-on-one battle and, consequently, fell from his throne. After his defeat, Kaido has not been seen and his fate remains unknown at the moment.
Update: Kaido Is Out of The Race For One Piece
Kaido did not hold any Poneglyph in the beginning at all. The Road Poneglyph of Wano was being kept safe by the Kozuki under the old Flower Capital. As fans know, the real Wano has been inundated by water for centuries now. Once Kaido took over, it was Jack who found this Poneglyph. As a result, Kaido gained access to it temporarily. Kaido had access to the Poneglyph for many years. However, at the end of the Wano arc, he was utterly crushed by Luffy. He was sent to an underground volcano, along with Big Mom, and, as mentioned earlier, this volcano ended up erupting, and Kaido’s fate remains unknown ever since.
However, what fans know for sure is that Kaido and his crew are not in possession of this road Poneglyph anymore. As a result, it can be safely assumed that even if Kaido is alive, he is out of the race for the One Piece. This means he has a total of 0 Road Poneglyphs at this point in time. His Road Poneglyph is now in the hands of Momonosuke, who is the current Shogun of the land of Wano. In the future, Oda will certainly clarify Kaido’s fate.
5
Eustass Kid
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 2
- Road Poneglyph: Wano, Whole Cake Island
Eustass Kid is one of the members of the Worst Generation. He was an incredibly important character in the Wano Country arc. After losing once to Kaido, getting swore vengeance on him and ended up aiding Luffy and the alliance in the war against Big Mom and Kaido.
While Kid did not get to take down Kaido, he did fight Big Mom and played a part in her downfall. After the war, he was given a copy of the Road Poneglyph by Law. Kid then revealed that he had already acquired a rubbing of Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph from one of her Commanders. As such, he has access to two of the four Road Poneglyphs.
Update: Kid Out Of The Race For The One Piece
Eustass Kid was one of the main players in the quest for the One Piece until recently. He had two of the four Road Poneglyphs, however, now, he has none. This is because he engaged with Shanks in combat and was crushed in a brutal manner.
The entirety of the Kid Pirates were decimated on this day, right outside the war land, Elbaf. All the Poneglyphs of the Kid Pirates were subsequently taken by Shanks and the crew was sent to the bottom of the ocean. From here onwards, fans will most likely not see Kid in the quest for One Piece as he is, officially, out of the race.
4
Trafalgar Law
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 2
- Road Poneglyph: Wano, Zou
Trafalgar Law doesn’t seem to have much of an interest in the One Piece, however, he does have an interest in uncovering all the secrets of the world and figuring out what the meaning of the D truly is. To do so, Law requires all four Road Poneglyphs and make his way to Laugh Tale.
Law was present with the Straw Hat Pirates when the Minks showed them their Road Poneglyph. He then went on to acquire Kaido’s Road Poneglyph as well and also shared its rubbing with Eustass Kid, who aided him in taking down Big Mom. Whether Luffy gave him a copy of Big Mom’s Poneglyphs remains unknown.
Update: Law Out Of The Race For The One Piece
Trafalgar Law is yet another pirate who was quite close to the One Piece. He had access to the Road Poneglyph of Zou and Wano. Sadly, after Wano, he encountered Blackbeard on his way and engaged in a duel with him.
Law ended up being defeated and his Poneglyphs were stolen as well. Currently, he does not have any Road Poneglyphs at all, meaning he is out of the race for the One Piece. His life was saved by Bepo, however, the rest of his pirate crew, along with his pirate ship, were sent to the bottom of the ocean by the Yonko.
3
Shanks
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: Atleast 2
- Road Poneglyph: Wano, Whole Cake
Shanks is quite a curious case as he is known to hold no Poneglyphs currently. However, he was a member of the Roger Pirates. As such, Shanks already knows where all the Road Poneglyphs are.
It is possible that he even holds a rubbing of all of them. Fans already know that Shanks was sitting back on purpose and has only decided to make his move now that Luffy has taken down Kaido. While not certain, Shanks most certainly knows where all of them are.
Update: Shanks Has New Road Poneglyphs
Shanks is one of the Yonko of the sea and also a pirate in the race for the One Piece. Although he knew the location of the vast majority of the Road Poneglyphs, Shanks was not interested in going for the treasure, that is, until Kaido was defeated. After Luffy rose to the status of Yonko, Shanks decided that it was time for him to move.
Immediately, he crushed Kid when the two fought outside of Elbaf and he took his two Road Poneglyphs. This means that Shanks has access to the Poneglyphs that belonged to Kaido and Big Mom. He also knows one is housed at Zou and, given that they are friends, Shanks could easily gain access to this one. This leaves behind the Poneglyph that is currently with the man with the burn scar. Perhaps, Shanks knows this person or, already has it. Perhaps, he does not. There’s only one way for the fans to find out. Regardless, Shanks currently has two at his hand and knows the location of the third. This means he’s one of the closest people to the One Piece at the moment.
2
Blackbeard
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: At least 2
- Road Poneglyph: Wano, Zou, Whole Cake (Potential)
Blackbeard was always aiming for the One Piece from the get-go. Although he became a Yonko during the timeskip, fans did not have an idea as to how close he was to the One Piece itself. In fact, even now, fans do not know precisely how many Road Poneglyphs he has with him.
Fans do no, however, for sure, that he has access to at least two Road Poneglyphs. These are the Poneglyphs that he recently stole from Law and they are from Zou and Kaido. Furthermore, a part of the Blackbeard Pirates also recently raided Whole Cake Island. It is very likely that he has access to the Poneglyph that Big Mom had as well. This would mean that Blackbeard currently has three out of the four Road Poneglyphs.
1
Monkey D. Luffy
- Road Poneglyph Poneglyph Count: 3
- Road Poneglyph: Wano, Zou, Whole Cake
Luffy is quite possibly the person closest to the One Piece at the moment. After finding out about the existence of the Road Poneglyphs in Zou, he immediately got access to one, thanks to the Mink Tribe. Later, Brook acquired the rubbing of Big Mom’s red stone for him and, after defeating Kaido, Sukiyaki led Robin to the third red stone.
Luffy has three of the four Road Poneglyphs already and just needs one more to figure out where the One Piece is located. After leaving Wano, the crew is now in search of this final red stone.
