Stranger Things season 5 may finally bring closure to a character death

Throughout Strange things‘Over four seasons, the Hawkins gang has lost many acquaintances and loved ones to the monsters of the Upside Down. However, the Demogorgon’s slaughter began with the death of a major character in Season 1. At the party at Steve Harrington’s house, the Demogorgon grabs Barb near the pool and subsequently kills her in the Upside Down. But Strange things Season 5 could finally bring closure to Barb’s deathan event that is barely addressed beyond season 1.

Eleven discovers Barbara’s body during a state of sensory deprivation and a visit to The Void. A year after Barb’s death, Nancy and Jonathan are inspired to expose Hawkins National Laboratory’s plans to open a door between Hawkins and the Upside Down. With Murray’s help, Nancy and Jonathan were able to obtain a confession from Dr. Owens to shut down Hawkins Laboratory. Almost at the same time, Barbara was eventually buried and given a proper funeral.. When season 4 arrives, many Hawkins residents believe that Barb’s death triggered a ‘curse’ that began targeting Chrissy Cunningham and Fred Benson. Unbeknownst to them at the time, Chrissy and Fred’s deaths marked the arrival of Vecna.

Stranger Things season 5 should bring back a key character

Stranger Things season 5 needs to do a lot with the main characters, but one figure needs to return to properly complete the story.

Fred’s death caused many negative emotions in Nancy, particularly guilt over Barb’s death. Vecna targeted Nancy to break her spirit, showing her Barb’s mangled corpse and blaming her for the fate of her best friend. Vecna also made fun of Nancy for forgetting about Barb all the time. After Barb’s abrupt death during Season 1, like Benny Hammond, another fan favorite, she was barely mentioned by the rest of the cast. Although Barb had a funeral, her friends never got over her death.. From Strange things Season 5 will be the farewell to these beloved characters and Barb’s death started the events, it makes sense that Barb’s story would be revisited in some way.

Nancy could achieve closure by defeating Vecna

If Vecna is still alive (which appears to be true), then there’s a good chance he’ll use the blood on his hands to his advantage. Vecna feeds on fear, as established during the sequence with Max in the Upside Down and even the scene where he shows Nancy visions of Hawkins in ruins. The more fear he generates, the more powerful he becomes. For Nancy, her greatest source of fear or guilt is the death of her friends, specifically Barb and Fred. In order for Nancy to get closure on Barb’s death, she will most likely be involved in Vecna’s death.. If Vecna was the mastermind behind the Mind Flayer, Demogorgon, and all the other creatures of the Upside Down, then Nancy can avenge Barb’s death by eliminating him once and for all.

And Nancy almost made it too during the Season 4 finale. While Eleven fought Vecna in the Upside Down, Nancy, Steve, and Robin confronted Vecna’s physical body in Creel’s old house. Although Steve and Robin helped with some well-timed Molotov cocktails, it was Nancy who delivered the final blow with a few shots from her shotgun. It was an interesting choice for the Duffer brothers to have Nancy take down Vecna in person, especially since he had made fun of her a few episodes before her. Nancy probably believed that she was getting revenge on Vecna for the sake of Barb and Fred.but when Vecna’s body disappeared, Nancy realized that she had won the battle, but not the war.

Nancy could find Barb’s body and address her pain and guilt

Nancy feels dissatisfied that Vecna appears to have survived their encounter. After Max’s sacrifice as the fourth and final victim, Vecna was able to break the barrier between Hawkins and the Upside Down. Viewers can assume that most Strange things Season 5 will take place in a limbo between both kingdoms. which makes it entirely possible for Nancy to stumble upon Barb’s body.. That is, if Barb’s body hasn’t decomposed yet.

The concept of time seems much more staggered in the Upside Down than in the real world. Max, for example, was able to have a full confrontation with Vecna that lasted much longer than the 10 minutes they spent in the real world. If Nancy finds Barb’s body, she might be a little unsettling, but at least she could address her pain and speak to her friend’s spirit..

By that same logic, Barb’s body could still be somewhere upside down. Vecna could have taken it, hidden it, thrown it away, or even left it to rot. Either way, Barb’s corpse may not have decomposed as quickly in the Upside Down as she would in the real world. There’s a good chance Nancy will find him in season 5 of Strange things, which could prompt her to defeat Vecna with Eleven’s help. Maybe Barb’s death doesn’t have a literal sense of closure, but at least If Vecna is defeated once and for all, her death will not have been in vain..
