The only way someone outside of Japan could obtain this Pokémon through the main games was if they accessed Pokémon Bank between December 25, 2013 and September 30, 2014. They could then transfer it to their main games. However, Pokémon GO has had some events where Celebi has been present, allowing many players to transfer it from Pokémon Home to more modern games.

Only available during a Sword and Shield event

Zarude is another mythical Pokémon that was introduced during the eighth generation of games. Since it is newer than other Pokémon on the list, it has had significantly fewer events associated with it, meaning players have only really had one chance to legitimately obtain this Pokémon in the main series of games, making it very difficult to reach.

What makes this Pokémon so rare is that the only time players were able to obtain it was by obtaining a code at certain stores in their region. Unfortunately, the codes sold out quickly and the distribution period was only a few months, meaning many players missed out on this amazing Pokémon. Since then, it has not been possible to obtain it except through Pokémon GO, which is not a main game.

Magearna’s original color is red and white, which corresponds to a Pokeball. This version of Pokémon is by far the hardest to obtain of any game, spin-off or mainline. In fact, the only known way to obtain this version of Magearna through legitimate means is by completing the National Pokedex in Pokémon Home up to Eternatus (#890) and including all Mythical Pokémon up to Melmetal (#809). Considering this means players need to obtain all of those Pokémon, even the difficult ones mentioned above, it’s no surprise that only a small handful of players have legitimately obtained this Pokémon.
