Ever since Tanjiro Kamado lost his family and his sister became a demon, he has dedicated every day to avenging the loss by killing Muzan Kibutsuji. Inspired by the manga of the same name written by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Hunter: Kimetsu no Yaiba revolves around him as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps in pursuit of their dangerous goal while risking his life for the greater good.

Throughout his journey, Tanjiro encounters some of the most powerful demons in existence and fights them alongside his comrades. After an unexpected attack, Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito confronts the top five in Swordsmith Village. Meanwhile, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji receives the horrible news that the mysterious settlement has been ambushed. As he rushes to defend the villagers, she is shocked to witness the barbarity of the demons there. Mitsuri remains professional like a true Hashira and doesn’t let her emotions get to her, she fights exceptionally well and saves countless lives.

Meanwhile, Tanjiro and Nezuko fight Urogi, Karaku, and Sekido. The brother-sister duo are fighting until the latter uses her powers to turn the former’s sword into the Bright Red Nichirin Sword. In the Swordsmith Village arc, Tanjiro arrives at the secret settlement to fix his sword after the historic battle in the Entertainment District. As he becomes familiar with the people there, the mysterious village is suddenly attacked by Senior Rank Four Hantengu and Senior Rank Five Gyokko. The ensuing battle pushes Nezuko, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, Tanjiro, and Genya to their limits.

The most exciting moments of the battle unfold when Senior Rank Four Hantengu makes a last-ditch effort to save himself by attacking and consuming the villagers so he can recover from his wounds and escape. Tanjiro faces a difficult challenge in that case, as Nezuko finds herself stranded in the middle of an open field, unprotected from the sun. As he struggles to make a decision, his sister makes the brave decision and pushes him to pursue Hantengu.

Tanjiro finally manages to get close to the Senior Four and beheads him before he can reach the villagers, but assumes that Nezuko must have died from the sun and cannot help but cry helplessly. In a strange turn of events, Nezuko survives and manages to conquer the sun, allowing her to walk outside freely during the day. This becomes a turning point in the centuries-old war between humans and demons, prompting Muzan to go to great lengths in his quest to become immortal. This Tanjiro episode is especially memorable for how he portrays the protagonist in one of his most vulnerable moments while also presenting him as incredibly powerful.

When the battle in the Entertainment District begins, Tanjiro, at one point, faces Daki completely alone. As the demon unleashes merciless attacks and causes many casualties, he enrages Tanjiro, who cannot excuse such stupid murders. Driven by emotions, he uses Hinokami Kagura to launch a series of attacks against Daki.

Tanjiro’s hectic, suddenly evolved fighting style overwhelms Daki and evokes memories buried deep in his subconscious. She witnesses how a man like her adversary challenges and overwhelms Muzan. This makes him realize that her memories were actually borrowed from the Demon King himself. The fight then becomes more intense and, in a strange twist, Nezuko gets involved. The drama that unfolds in this episode is incredibly exciting and features unexpected twists to keep viewers hooked until the end.

On Mount Natagumo, Zenitsu bravely fights a spider demon, putting his life at risk. Meanwhile, Inosuke is fortunately saved by the timely arrival of Giyu when things seem to go wrong for him. Unfortunately, Tanjiro is not as lucky as him and ends up facing Lower Rank Five Rui. The fight that follows is overwhelming for Kamado, who has yet to face a demon as strong as this one.

Just when it seems all hope is lost, Tanjiro remembers the ritual dance his father used to perform all night long. It turned out to be a unique breathing style known as Hinokami Kagura that has been preserved by the Kamado family for generations. As Tanjiro mimics his father’s movements, he is able to unleash a barrage of attacks that turn the tide of the battle, nearly killing Rui in the process. Not only this episode of demon slayer offers a brief glimpse into Tanjiro’s mysterious upbringing, but also reveals that he is much more powerful than fans would have initially thought at this point in the story.

During the Entertainment District arc, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui confronts Gyutaro and Daki with the help of Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko. However, the battle does not go as expected, as Gyutaro overwhelms the demon hunters with his eccentric fighting style. At one point, Tanjiro appears to be the only conscious member of his group and Gyutaro mocks him for his miserable state. But, surviving extraordinary situations and keeping a clear head, Kamado launches a stealth attack by stabbing the demon with an intertwined kunai.

In the moments after Tanjiro’s brave return, his comrades join him with renewed confidence and suddenly turn the tables. The battle that seemed lost no longer seems as hopeless as before. Inosuke and Zenitsu fight bravely against Daki, while Tengen and Tanjiro face the bloodthirsty Gyutaro. In one of the most spectacular displays of swordsmanship, the demon hunters manage to decapitate the brother-sister duo at the same time, ending their reign of terror and further showing how powerful Tanjiro is.
