The showrunner stated, “Marvel sent a letter notifying me that they had removed my season 2 credits due to publication.” The post was a shirtless photo of DeMayo as Marvel superhero Cyclops. Marvel wasted no time in responding, revealing that the studio parted ways with DeMayo in March of this year and that the publication had nothing to do with his split. Rather, it was his atrocious behavior, as noted The Hollywood Reporterwhich led to the separation after an internal investigation. The two sides were apparently said to have reached an agreement, which DeMayo allegedly violated by continuing to tweet about the series. This is said to be what cost him credit in season 2 of X-Men ’97. DeMayo defended himself with his lawyer. However, when his attorney issued a statement, reports began to surface about why DeMayo was fired with rumors suggesting the showrunner was fired for sexual misconduct. While Disney has not outright confirmed the allegations made against DeMayo, some industry reporters have come forward with what they heard from their sources.

Initial reports suggested that DeMayo was simply difficult to work with.
