A clear killer
The books left it ambiguous
Harwin dies in both the books and Dragon House at his family’s seat of power, Harrenhal. However, the blame for his death remained unresolved in the world of the book. It was assumed that the killer could have been any of several people, including Daemon, whose jealousy of Harwin and Rhaenyra’s affair was obvious.
Instead, Dragon House makes it clear that his brother, Larys, was responsible for the murders of both Harwin and their father. While Harwin didn’t have much screen time on the show, this definitive resolution to his death goes a long way toward completing his character arc.

In the books, this is explored further. At the tourney celebrating her wedding to Laenor Velaryon, Rhaenyra gives her favor to Ser Harwin, and Ser Criston Cole breaks her collarbone at the tourney. This provided a modicum of insight into how Rhaenyra and Harwin managed to get so close over time before becoming secret lovers.

Your nickname
The strongest man in Westeros
While viewers may have heard Harwin referred to as Ser Harwin “Breakbones” Strong, Dragon House It certainly doesn’t focus on the name or the reasons for it. Knights of Westeros often have such nicknames due to deeds or abilities they possess, and Ser Harwin is no different.
The nickname Breakbones is because Ser Harwin is known as the strongest man in Westeros. It is never really known if this is completely accurate, but that name surely made it easier for him to obtain his eventual position as captain of the City Guard of King’s Landing. The books describe Harwin as a huge, brutish man, while the House of the Dragon version appears to be more multifaceted. Big, but not that massive.

Harwin lacked ambition in the book
Harwin proved to be someone with a certain level of ambition in Dragon House. This was not the case in the book, where he never became the commander of the City Guard, but rather he merely resided as a captain in its ranks. His ambitions to gain rank were never part of the character of his book.

The richest houses in House Of The Dragon
The great Houses of Westeros possess significant wealth to support their power plays. These families are the richest in House of the Dragon.
In the books, he seemed completely content just being with Rhaenyra, as was usually the case. He even managed to spend more time with her in the books, going with her to Dragonstone after her feud with Alicent reached a boiling point. In the show, he never gets to spend those years with her.

Rhaenyra despised him
Originally she wouldn’t let Harwin court her
Another important point in Harwin’s story is that when Rhaenyra went on her tour to try to find a husband, one of the men who tried to court her and ended up unsuccessful was Harwin Strong himself. Evidently, in the book Rhaenyra again ended up choosing Laenor Velaryon as her husband.
The romance between Rhaenyra and Harwin was not going to be a marriage, but Dragon House He doesn’t even mention it as a possibility. The book writes that the two were discovered in bed together a year before Rhaenyra’s wedding, but their relationship was never presented as anything more than civil in Dragon House until long after the wedding.

A bigger family
The program forgot about its sisters
There are always many characters to keep track of, both in game of Thrones and Dragon House. However, the show actually managed to have as many characters as it does and leave some of them completely out of existence, or so it seems. Harwin is shown to have a brother in Larys, who kills him and his father for the likely reason of inheriting Harrenhal itself.
In the book, however, Harwin also had two sisters. The Strong family was much larger than shown in Dragon House. While the show never rules out the possibility that there could be more strong children, they aren’t mentioned at all, so it seems somewhat likely that they simply didn’t exist in the show’s reality.
