The original 2004 epic mounts required 1000 gold, making them the rarest in the game’s history.
world of warcraft It’s been around since 2004 and the game has always had a “classic era.” Whether players are referring to the modern classic realms that allow them to relive the good times or they are talking about the good times themselves, the classic part of Wow Life is one for the history books of video games.
The game has a fairly large collector’s market and players want to collect transmogs, mounts, pets, and much more. However, the biggest collector’s market in the game is probably for mounts. Here’s a breakdown of the mounts that are the rarest in the Classic era of the game (both 2004 and modern Classic).

Howling Frostwolf/Stormpike Battle Charger
Exalt yourself with your faction’s PvP representative
While a decent percentage of players may have this mount at retail, playing in Classic is a completely different story. The mount is only available to players who have reached exalted status with their faction’s PvP representative within the Alterac Mountains. Once they have reached exaltation, they will have to pay 640 gold, a fairly considerable sum, to be able to obtain the mount for their respective faction. Horde players would get The Frostwolf Howler and Alliance players would get the Stormpike Battle Charger.
While obtaining everything needed and obtaining the mount may not be too difficult in the current version of the game, it was certainly not an easy task for players during the Classic era or for those playing on Classic realms. Instead, these players would not only have to improve reputation, but also gold to obtain it. Nowadays, players can get that amount of gold in just a few minutes of gameplay, but back then, getting that would take countless hours of work.

PvP Mounts Rank 11
Routine is difficult
These mounts are some of the rarest due to their difficulty. Like previous PvP mounts, the requirements may seem nil now, but they were extremely complicated in the classic era of the game. Players will need to obtain a PvP Rank of 11 and then purchase them from their faction representative within the Alterac Valley PvP area. They used to cost 100 gold, which is a pretty decent change for a player back then.

The real reason these are so rare in the classic era of the game is the fact that it was very difficult to reach PvP levels. On top of that, each race had its own mount, which meant that there were quite a few of these mounts to choose from. Finally, gold itself was something quite difficult to obtain. While gold isn’t that hard to find now, it was a rare commodity back then.

Rivendare Death Destroyer
One of the lowest drop rates ever seen
Rivendare’s Deathcharger doesn’t look like much; After all, he looks almost identical to all the Skeletal Horses available through Under City. However, this mount allowed anyone to ride one of the Skeletal Horse mounts, even Alliance players. Due to the fact that it was one of the only skeletal mounts in Classic WoW and allowed anyone to ride it, this was one of the mounts that everyone wanted to get at one time or another. Unfortunately, it was (and still is) a fairly rare mount in the game.
The mount will drop from a boss in the Stratholme raid known as Baron Rivendare. While it is fairly easy to reach and defeat this boss during raids, it is rare for him to drop his mount. In fact, the mount drops less than 0.1% of the time and, adding the number of players in a raid, it has one of the lowest drop rates of any mount, making it a rare mount. Less than 1% of players have this mount and considering the odds of obtaining it, it’s not a very shocking statistic.

Black Qiraji Battle Tank
If the impossible were a mount
To obtain this mount, players basically had to overcome an impossible challenge. The Temple of Ahn’Qiraj and the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj were added to the game during WoW Classic (and will be added to the current Classic version in Phase 5 of the Season of Discovery). To reach these areas, players had to obtain a large amount of resources and work together (Alliance and Horde) to open the Gate of Ahn’Qiraj. Considering this is he The longest quest line in the game, it’s no surprise that most players have never seen the doors open.

Once players have completed the quest line and obtained the Scepter of Shifting Sand, they will be able to complete the quest and obtain this incredible mount. However, this mount was only available for a 10-hour period, so if you missed that time, you missed out on the mount entirely. Any player on the server could start the 10-hour window, which meant it was highly unlikely that players would know when it would happen. After those 10 hours, the quest rewards would never be available on that server again. Considering how difficult it is to get and time it correctly to do so during that time period, most players didn’t get the mount.

The Original Epic Mounts
1,000 gold was required in 2004.
The original epic mounts are the rarest in WoW Classic and the entire game franchise, even to this day. These mounts could be obtained through vendors before patch 1.4 back in 2005. The mounts could be purchased for 1000 gold and used once players reached level 60, making them extremely difficult to obtain. During those days, very few players could get 1000 gold, let alone have it available to spend on a mount. This is the main reason why they are so rare, but it is not the only one.
After patch 1.4, these mounts were replaced by the epic mounts that players still have today. Once the patch was implemented, players with these original mounts could exchange them for the new armored mounts, or they could keep them. Considering that very few players had them to begin with, and then some traded them in for the armored versions, these original versions are actually the rarest mounts in the entire game, and will most likely remain so for the rest of the game. of the useful life of the game.
